Honorary Member John Legate – what he’s up to when not on the Island

John first joined one of our breakfast meetings back in March – good timing as we had a visit that day from our District Governor! He explained that he had made the decision to move back to the local area from Majorca and was seeking a local Rotary club to attend, but with the intention of retaining his membership with Club Calvia for the time being. Naturally, we welcomed John with open arms and, having established his Rotary ‘pedigree’ along with his keenness to get involved immediately with our events etc., we proposed he be offered an Honorary Membership.

Fortunately for us, however, John then made the decision to transfer his membership to us, which I know was not the easiest decision for him given the very enjoyable years he had clearly spent with Club Calvia. However, we were then delighted to learn that Calvia had, in turn, granted an Honorary Membership with their club, thus ensuring continued close links with both clubs. We are grateful to Calvia for ensuring the transfer was managed smoothly and delighted to welcome John who we can already see will be a fantastic asset for our club.
