Time swiftly passes and RC Calvía International is now planning for the next Schools Debating competition. This continues to go from strength to strength ably led by Kate and her helpers on the Youth committee.
They will be contacting the six schools which took part 2018/2019, as well as the French Lycee which has confirmed their participation. Contact will also be made with the Institute of Bendinat and the Green Valley School who have expressed interest in the project. Meetings will be arranged with all these schools in the coming weeks. Kate will attend, together with Mike and Jan as much as diaries permit.
Mike has confirmed that there is no need for any change to the Rules and Regulations, but that the score sheet needs to be amended, and checked with the judges.
Palma Pictures and Age Concern have both confirmed their wish to continue their sponsorship of the debates. Indeed Palma Pictures have offered their facilities as the possible location for the Finals.
Several judges have said that they are more than happy to act again as judges this coming season. The consistency of judging was emphasized as an important issue with the schools and teams.
It was agreed that, without doubt, the most difficult part of the project is deciding on suitable and stimulating “Debate Motions”. More work needed and your suggestions will be welcomed.
